Memoir George Attarian, or Mr. A as well all called him was such a wonderful man and teacher. Along with his choir duties, he held a beginning harmony class which I was so excited to take. It was strict 4-part harmony and I used to spend hours at the piano writing exercises, making sure there were no parallel 4th, 5th or octaves and then the thrill when he would sit there and sight read our excercises on the piano. We had a great choir those years, too scoring high in the competitions, especially with Chamber Singers. He even worked in a piece with guitar accompanyment we did for a xmas concert. If I remember correctly, it was another guitarist and myself, Moss Reynolds. I have nothing but fond memories of Mr. A. He inspired me to move forward in my composing career. I will never forget one of my favorite teachers and good friends from poly.
